This Week's Connection

Where we are headed this week:

Reader's & Writer's Workshop:
  • Discussions on abandoning books, genre's, and writing responses to reading. 
  • Literature extension information went home last week.  First due date is September 22nd.  Check the blog archive to see the information on literature extensions posted last week.
  • Weekly reading logs will be discussed on Monday then sent home. Completed reading logs are due back each Monday signed by the parent.
Social Studies:
  • History of maps, physical and political maps, and landforms is the focus this week.
Math:
  • Tuesday - Thursday: Everyday Math, Unit 1, Number Theory (Lessons 1.5-1.7). Study Links will be assigned nightly for homework.
  • Friday: 10-point Quiz . (The quiz will cover lessons 1.5-1.7.)
  • Mrs. Baker will also be assessing students basic skills in multiplication and provide various opportunities to practice skills.
Science:
  • Lab Tools and Lab Safety will be the focus for the week.
  • Measurement - Metric & Customary Units.
Spelling:
  • Mrs. Baker gives the spelling list to the students at the beginning of each week. She uses SpellingCity.com to help students learn the words and their meanings.   • Tuesday: Write words and choose two choices from the spelling choice board.
  • Tuesday - Thursday: Students practice spelling words by completing their choices from the spelling choice board. (This is homework and must be completed by Friday.)
  • Friday: Assignments from spelling choice board are due. Spelling test is given.
