It was such a pleasure meeting all of our students and parents last week. We are looking forward to a great year!
Where we are headed this week:
Reader's & Writer's Workshop:
- Writing prompt assessment. This is to let Mrs. Hughes see where your child is with their writing skills.
- Building a reading community in which to discuss books.
- Weekly reading logs will be discussed on Monday then sent home. Completed reading logs are due back each Monday signed by the parent.
- Introduction to the Atlas and geography unit.
- Monday - Thursday: Everyday Math, Unit 1, Number Theory (Lessons 1.1-1.4). Study Links will be assigned nightly for homework.
- Friday: 10-point Quiz . (The quiz will cover lessons 1.1-1.4.)
- Mrs. Baker will also be assessing students basic skills in multiplication.
- Lab Tools and Lab Safety will be the focus for the week.
- Mrs. Baker gives students the spelling list each Monday. She uses SpellingCity.com to help students learn the words and their meanings. The following link will take you to the list for this week. http://www.spellingcity.com/view-spelling-list.html?listId=6029041&x=53269
- Monday: Write words and choose three choices from the spelling choice board.
- Tuesday - Thursday: Practice spelling words using their choices from the spelling choice board.
- Friday: Assignments from spelling choice board are due. Spelling Test.
Posting of this weeks spelling words will be placed on the newsletter on Monday evenings so that if students forget their words then they have another way to study. Remember that school is out on Monday, September 5th, for Labor Day. The first reading log will go home on Monday and will need to be returned next Tuesday due to the holiday.
