April is a very busy month with field trips and testing.  Please check our classes' online calendar to be aware of all the dates and times for testing. Also, make sure your student is getting plenty of rest for all of these events.  Remember to vote on Tuesday, April 2.  Thank you for all your support!

Communication Arts: Students are required to have a book to read at all times. They can bring a book from home, check one out in the library, or in our classroom.
  • Reading Logs: Reading logs will be sent home every Monday. Students are required to read a total of 100 minutes per week. Reading logs must be filled out completely and signed by a parent/guardian. Completed reading logs must be turned in the following Monday.
  • Literacy Focus: Nonfiction text Features
  • Writing Focus: Persuasive Essays.
  • Grammar: Verbs and Adverbs
  • Multicultural lesson: Everybody Cooks Rice (Tuesday)
  • Congratulations to our Language Arts Department (LAD Fair) Winners! Click on the link for further information. If you choose to attend fair day, April 27, please do NOT take home the writings. I will gather all the writings that were submitted by our students. You are welcome to take a picture and then place the writing back in the pile.

  • Hyper Spellers:  To recognize how the roots spect and port combine with other elements to create derived.
  • Super Spellers:To recognize VCV, VCCV, and VVCV syllable-juncture patterns in words.
  • Monday-Thursday: Spelling choices and workbook sort 18.
  • Friday: Test

  • Metric Units: Length, Capacity, Weight, Time, and Temperature
  • Homework: Various Worksheets
