Communication Arts: Students are required to have a book to read at all times. They can bring a book from home, check one out in the library, or in our classroom.
  • Reading Logs: Reading logs will be sent home every Monday. Students are required to read a total of 100 minutes per week. Reading logs must be filled out completely and signed by a parent/guardian. Completed reading logs must be turned in the following Monday.
  • Literacy Focus: Nonfiction
  • Writing Focus: Persuasive Essays. We will also work on our Daily Sentence Editing Skills.
  • Grammar: Nouns, Verbs, and Incomplete Sentences
Word Study: Sort 17
  • Hyper Spellers:To identify the prefixes quadr-, tetra-, quint-, pent-, and dec- and understand how they influence the meaning of words.      
  • Super Spellers:To recognize VCV, VCCV and VVCV syllable-juncture patterns in words.
  • Monday-Thursday: Spelling choices and workbook sort 17.
  • Friday: Test
Math: Measurement
  • Customary Units: Length, Capacity, Weight, Time, and Temperature
  • Homework: Various Worksheets
  • Quiz on Friday covering lessons from this week 
Science/Health: Solar System Unit
  • Completion of the Web Quest: Exploring our Solar System
  • Introduction of Moon Phases
  • Read Chapter 1, Lesson 5 and 6 in Earth Science textbook on Moon Phases 
  • Various Worksheets with the reading and an in-class project with the Web Quest
Social Studies:
  • Chapter 9 The Revolutionary War
  • Lesson 3: Winning Independence (pp. 356-361)
  • Lesson 4: Effects of the War (pp. 364-369)
  • Worksheet pp. 86, 88
  • Various activities and videos
