Communication Arts: Students are required to have a book to read at all times. They can bring a book from home, check one out in the library, or in our classroom.
  • Reading Logs: Reading logs will be sent home every Monday. Students are required to read a total of 100 minutes per week. Reading logs must be filled out completely and signed by a parent/guardian. Completed reading logs must be turned in the following Monday.
  • Literacy Focus: Continue with inferring using nonfiction text
  • Writing Focus: Expository text. Students will complete writing a newsworthy story for a class newsletter and work on a nonfiction writing about a Leprechaun. We will also work on our Daily Sentence Editing Skills.
Word Study: Sort 16
  • Hyper Spellers: To recognize how the prefixes inter-, sub-, and over- change the meaning of base words.
  • Super Spellers: To recognize VCCCV and VV syllable-juncture patterns in words.
  • Monday-Thursday: Spelling choices and workbook sort 16.
  • Friday: Test

  • Math: Fractions and Decimals
    • Renaming fractions as decimals
    • Rounding Decimals
    • Converting between fractions, mixed numbers, and decimals
    • Ordering fractions and decimals on a number line

    • Introduction to the Web Quest: Exploring our Solar System
    • Read Chapter 1 in Earth Science textbook on Planets
    • Various Worksheets with the reading and an in-class project with the Web Quest
