Reminder:  Parent/Teacher conferences are this week.  Please bring your student with you to the conference.  Due to a large class this year please try to be on time.  I will do my best to keep to the schedule. Thank you for working together for the success of your student.

Communication Arts: Students are required to have a book to read at all times. They can bring a book from home, check one out in the library, or in our classroom.

• Reading logs will be sent home every Monday. Students are required to read a total of 100 minutes per week. Reading logs must be filled out completely and signed by a parent/guardian. Completed reading logs must be turned in the following Monday.
• Literature Extension due November 20.
• Literacy Focus: Figurative Language (metaphors, similes, idioms, etc.)
• Writing Focus: Figurative Language in Poetry
• Treasure Island chapters 19-24

Word Study: No Spelling this week due to conferences and it being a short week.

Math:

• Exploring Angle Measures and Using a Protractor
• Cooperative Learning Activities (Rally Coach): Name the Angle & Measure the Angle
• Study Links (homework): 3.3, 3.4, various worksheets

Science:

• We will be creating Arbor day posters in class. Due date is Thursday, November 1.
• Continue our study of plants: adaptations

Social Studies:

• Students will be participating in "Kids Vote" on November 5th. We will begin an election unit starting Thursday. Students will learn about the election process, fill out faux registration cards, and learn about the candidates. The lessons will be unbiased towards any candidate.
