- Reading logs will be sent home every Monday. Students are required to read a total of 100 minutes per week. Reading logs must be filled out completely and signed by a parent/guardian. Completed reading logs must be turned in the following Monday.
- Literacy Focus: Figurative Language (metaphors, similes, idioms, etc.)
- Writing Focus: Pirate stories, Daily Sentence Editing, Figurative Language in Poetry
- Treasure Island chapters 16-21
- Monday: Introduction to spelling lesson: Sort 5 Write all words in planner. Twelve words will be chosen from their list for the test on Friday.
- Tuesday - Thursday: Various spelling sorts, choices, and workbook activities
- Friday: Test
- Review of multiplication of decimals, solving number stories, estimating product
- Review of Mode, Median, Mean, Range
- Homework: Various worksheets
- Unit 2 study guide will come home on Monday.
- Test on Thursday.

Students should have shown their parents the packet on their leaf project. Please sign and return for 5 points that are part of the grade. This project is due October 24.

We will continue our study of trees and creating Arbor day posters.
- Regions: Southwest, and West. Students will watch a video, take notes, and create a map of each region.
- Students will be participating in "Kids Vote" on November 5th. We will begin an election unit starting Thursday. Students will learn about the election process, fill out faux registration cards, and learn about the candidates. The lessons will be unbiased towards any candidate.
