This Week's Connection

At the end of each day, think "What has this day brought me, and what have I given it?"

Communication Arts: Students are required to have a book to read at all times. They can bring a book from home, check one out in the library, or in our classroom.

• Reading logs will be sent home every Monday. Students are required to read a total of 100 minutes per week. Reading logs must be filled out completely and signed by a parent/guardian. Completed reading logs must be turned in the following Monday.
• Literacy Focus: Cause and Effect
• Writing Focus: Pirate stories, Daily Sentence Editing,
• Treasure Island chapters 13-18
• Literature Festival Field Trip on Friday, October 19.

Word Study:

• Monday: Introduction to spelling lesson: Sort 4, Write all words in planner. Twelve words will be chosen from their list for the test on Friday.
• Tuesday - Thursday: Various spelling sorts, choices, and workbook activities
• Friday: Test

Math:

• Review of multiplication of decimals, solving number stories, estimating product
• Introduction of Mode, Median, Mean, Range
• Homework: Various worksheets
• Unit 2 study guide will come home next week.

Science:

• Students should have shown their parents the packet on their leaf project.  Please sign and return for 5 points that are part of the grade.  This project is due October 24.
• We will continue our study of plants and trees.

Social Studies:

• Regions: Midwest, Southwest, and West.  Students will watch a video, take notes, and create a map of each region.
• Geography Test on Monday, October 15.
