This Week's Connection

Communication Arts: Students are required to have a book to read at all times. They can bring a book from home, check one out in the library, or in our classroom.
  • Reading logs will be sent home every Monday. Students are required to read a total of 100 minutes per week. Reading logs must be filled out completely and signed by a parent/guardian. Completed reading logs must be turned in the following Monday.
  • Literacy Focus: Continue summarizing
  • Writing Focus: Personal Narratives, Daily Sentence Editing, student of the week letter.
  • We will be stuffing our reading pillows on Monday and Aunt Brenda (my aunt) will be coming on Tuesday for the final opening to be sewn up. 
  • Continue reading the book Treasure Island chapters 9-12.
Word Study:
  • Monday: Introduction to spelling lesson, Write all words in planner. Twelve words will be chosen from their list for the test on Friday.
  • Tuesday - Thursday: Various spelling sorts, choices, and workbook activities
  • Friday: Test
Math:
  • Lessons 2.7-2.8 Addition and Subtraction of Whole Numbers and Decimals.
  • Homework: 2.7 & 2.8
  • Review for Unit 2 test for the following week.
Science:
  • Students should have shown their parents the packet on their leaf project.  Please sign and return for 5 points that are part of the grade. 
  • We will be going to Close Memorial Park on Wednesday.  This will be a time for students to gather some of their leaves for their project. 
  • We will continue our study of plants and trees.

Social Studies:
  • Introduction to regions
  • Students will be given a study guide over the geography unit today for their test on October 12.
