This Week's Connection

I am convinced that we must train not only the head, but the heart and hand as well. ~ Chiang Kai-shek

Here is what we are learning this week:
Reader's & Writer's Workshop:
  • February Literature Extension will be due on February 29.
  • Completed weekly reading logs are due back each Monday and must be signed by the parent.
  • Students should be memorizing and practicing their speeches every night.  Once a speech is approved then no changes can be made.  Students already know this requirement. Click on this site as a reminder of this assignment: Night at the Museum
  • In writing we will be working on vocabulary and daily editing skills using a variety of activities on the smart board and games.
  • Literary Focus this week: Main Idea
Social Studies:
  • Students will be creating a historical background for their famous American on their trifold boards.\
  • A permission slip for Night at the Museum will be coming home on Tuesday.  Students will need to create a tip jar to go along with their famous American.
Math:
  • We are focusing on Data & Probability.  Students are learning to collect and use data to create various types of graphs. We are connecting this with our weather unit.
Science/Health:
  • We have been participating in the KY3 Weather School Challenge! (This contest will end on February 24.
  • Students will be working with teams to learn about severe weather and will be presenting their information to the class.
Spelling:
  • We will not have a spelling test for the next two weeks due to the short school week and our Night at the Museum next week!

Other Items of Interest:
  • Please contact your homeroom teacher if you are having difficulty with finding a costume for your child to wear for Night at the Museum. We have some resources but cannot provide for everyone.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email or call. Have a great week!
