This Week's Connection

April  and May are very busy months with field trips and testing.  Please check our classes' online calendar to be aware of all the dates and times for testing. Also, make sure your student is getting plenty of rest and eating a good breakfast for all of these events.
 
Communication Arts: Students are required to have a book to read at all times. They can bring a book from home, check one out in the library, or in our classroom.
  • Reading Logs: For the next two weeks reading logs will be sent home with only those students who need to make up a log. Students are required to read a total of 100 minutes per week. Reading logs must be filled out completely and signed by a parent/guardian. Completed reading logs must be turned in the following Monday.
  • Literacy Focus:  Complete the book Around the World in 80 Days. Compare and contrast the video with the movie. 
  • Writing Focus: Student of the week letter. End of the year writing prompt
  • Literature Extension Board Games are DUE on May 1.
Word Study:
  • No spelling test this week due to MAP testing
Math:
  • Multiplying Fractions 
  • Homework: None this week due to MAP Testing
Science/Health: MAP Testing on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday in Science
  • Science Video: Physical Science review
  • Health: Starting a unit on nutrition
Social Studies: Chapter 13 A Changing Nation 
  • Lesson 1: Reconstruction (pp. 516-523)
  • Worksheet p. 125
  • Wilson's Creek Battlefield Field Trip May 10
