Welcome back! I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday break. As we enter third quarter, we will be jumping back in strong with a bit of review. Please be checking our calendar for exciting happenings at Disney and within our classroom. Looking forward to an amazing third quarter!
Communication Arts: Students are required to have a book to read at all times. They can bring a book from home, check one out in the library, or in our classroom.

Reading Logs: There will be no reading log this week. However, please encourage your child to read this short week.
- Literacy Focus: Review of reading reflections, draw conclusions, cause and effect, and summarizing
- Writing Focus: Students will be completing a science writing prompt.
- Literacy Circles: Reading informational text,Time for Kids (TFK)
- Literature Extension: A letter will be coming home today about this quarters literature extension. The due date is January 31.
- Reminder: Students are to complete four Mark Twain Nominees before the end of January. Students are reminded weekly and this information was in the syllabus that you were given at the beginning of the year. This will be included in their third quarter grades.
Math:
- Review how to find the area of a rectangle and nonrectangle figures
- Formulas for the Areas of Triangles and Parallelograms
- Study Links (homework): 9.6, Worksheets on Area
- Students will be working together in groups of three to complete a project on the States of Matter and the Properties of Matter. This project will be done in class and due by the end of the day Friday.
- Colonization: Settling the Middle Colonies, Life in the Middle Colonies, Busy farms and seaports.
- Study Guide will be given on Monday, January 7.
- Test on the Middle Colonies will be on Wednesday, January 9.
