This Week's Connection

Learning is not attained by chance, it must be sought for with ardor and attended to with diligence. ~ Abigail AdamsIt was such a pleasure meeting all of my students and parents last week.  I am looking forward to a successful year with my students. 

Communication Arts:

• Writing prompt assessment.  This is to let me see where your child is with their writing skills.
  
• Building a reading community in which to discuss books.
  
• Weekly reading logs will be discussed on Monday then sent home.  Completed reading logs are due back each Monday signed by the parent.

Social Studies:

• Introduction to the Atlas and geography unit.

Math:

• A beginning of the year assessment will be given.
  
• We will begin unit 1 of our everyday math.
  
• Play multiplication bingo to practice our multiplication skills. 

Science:

• Scientific method will be the focus for the week.

Spelling:

• There will be no spelling test this week.  Students were assessed last week and we are waiting on our spelling books before we begin.

It has been a whirlwind week.  I know our students had a lot to take in this past week but they did it with a positive attitude. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email or call. Have a great week!
