Here is what we are learning this week:

Reader's & Writer's Workshop:

• Literacy Focus: Students will be reading Treasure Island, chapters 13-26, in class. On Friday we will have stations as a follow up to the book.
• Students will finish Playing the literature board games.

Social Studies:

• Studentswill be studying Reconstruction after the Civil War.

Math:

• Students will be working on "Dream House" projects during our class time.

Science/Health:

• We will continue with our Health Unit on healthy diets and lifestyles.

Spelling:

• Students will be given a final spelling list on Monday. (This is a combination of words taken from all their spelling lists this year.)
• The test will be on Monday, May 14 and will be a combination of spelling half of the words on the list and recognizing/applying the meaning of the other half of the words. (This test will be worth 50 pts.)

Other Items of Interest:

• Electronics and Smoothie celebration will be on Wednesday, May 16 during the last hour of the day.  Please refer to the letter that was sent home last Friday.
• 5th Grade Program is Thursday, May 17.  Students need to arrive by 6:45 and the program starts at 7:00.
• Frontier Theater Field Trip is on Monday, May 21.  Students need a sack lunch and to wear their 5th grade t-shirts.
