Here is what meaningful life experiences we are having this week:
Reader's & Writer's Workshop:
- February Literature Extension will be due on February 29. Student need to choose one of the extensions on the new list that went home last Friday.
- Completed weekly reading logs are due back each Monday and must be signed by the parent.
- Students will be writing their first person speeches. Students need their trifold boards by Friday, February 10th. Click on this site to remind you of what kind of trifold board: Night at the Museum
- In writing we will be working on vocabulary and daily editing skills using a variety of activities on the smart board and games.
- Literary Focus this week: Cause and Effect.
- Grammar:
- Students are working on choices for a government project in class. The focus being the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and the three branches of government.
- We have finished our Division Unit. Study guides were sent home on Thursday and we had a class review on Friday. The Unit test is today.
- The rest of this week we will be focusing on the order of operations. Practice problems will be assigned for homework each evening.
- I learned late last week that Kevin Lighty, meteorologist from KOLR TV 10, will be giving a weather presentation to the Disney 5th graders this Tuesday! He does a wonderful job! Due to his presentation, we are taking a week off from our Vertebrate Unit and will spend the week focusing on weather!
- We are on List 14 this week. Spelling practice - Students must complete their two choices by Friday. The test will be on Friday.
