This Week's Connection

Here is what we will be learning this week:

Reader's & Writer's Workshop:
  • Literacy Focus: Character Traits and Figurative Language
  • Literature Extensions due November 28th
  • Completed weekly reading logs are due back each Monday and must be signed by the parent.
  • Writer's Workshop: Using the writing process, we will be working on our writing Web Quest, "Oh, What a Tangled Web We Weave"
Social Studies:
  • Introduction to the Southern Colonies: Settling, Economy, and Living.  There will be a worksheet with each lesson this week.
  • Test over the Middle Colonies on Monday, November 21.
Math: 
  • We are continuing our exploration of Geometry. Monday & Tuesday we will practice measuring angles and identifying various two-dimensional shapes.
  • There will be a test this Friday, November 18. A study guide will be sent home on Monday. It must be completed by Wednesday. If it is signed by a parent/guardian, 5 points extra credit will be given.
  • Homework this week will only be what is not completed in class and the study guide.
  • Please continue to work with your student to improve speed and accuracy of multiplication facts. Ask them about their progress in becoming a five-star general! Practice at home will help increase the success of the student.
Science:
  • We are beginning our Invertibrate Unit. Students will be working individually and collaboratively on in class assignments to complete this unit. 
Spelling:
  • We are on List 8 for spelling this week. Students will be required to complete two assignments from the choice board and the cursive writing worksheet.   • Test on Friday, November 18.
Other Items of Interest:
  • No school on November 23-25 for Thanksgiving Break.
  • Dominoes Night, Thursday, November 17.
